How A Perth Fencing Company Started With One Ute And A Posthole Digger

FencrGatr did not start in a boardroom. It started with Niels, a posthole digger, a second hand ute, and a handful of referrals from neighbours in the western suburbs. The first proper job was a 35 metre Colorbond boundary fence in Subiaco, replacing a timber fence that had been leaning since the previous winter. That single install turned into three more on the same street within a month.

Word spread the way it does in Perth. One neighbour tells another. A builder notices the finish on a fence line and asks for a card. Within the first year we had moved from solo weekend jobs to a full time crew running fencing installation projects across Claremont, Nedlands, Mount Lawley, and Como. We bought proper equipment, set up trade accounts with BlueScope, and started tackling the bigger commercial fencing projects that the one ute setup could not handle.

Today we run dedicated install crews covering the entire Perth metropolitan area, from Joondalup down to Mandurah and everywhere in between. We carry stock of the most common Colorbond colours, maintain a fleet of vehicles fitted for core drilling and heavy panel work, and employ a full time project coordinator to keep every job on track. The ute is still around, though. Niels uses it on weekends.

What Actually Happens When You Call Us About A Fencing Project

Most fencing companies in Perth will quote you over the phone. We will not. Every job starts with a free measure and site assessment because the price of a fence depends on things you cannot see from the street. Soil type matters. A sandy block in Dianella digs differently to clay in Morley or limestone in Leederville. Underground services, boundary setbacks, and existing retaining walls all affect the scope.

When we arrive, we walk the full fence line with you. We check boundary pegs, identify potential obstacles like tree roots or stormwater pipes, and discuss material options based on your specific site conditions. If your property needs council approval for a front fence, retaining wall, or pool fencing installation, we flag it upfront and handle the compliance requirements as part of our service.

You get a detailed, itemised quote within 48 hours. Not a ballpark figure on the back of a card. Every post, panel, footing, and fitting is listed with quantities and unit costs so you can compare it against any other fencing contractors in Perth and see exactly where your money goes. If you want to adjust the spec, swap a colour, or change the fence height, we update the quote and explain how it affects the total. No pressure, no sales tactics. Just the information you need to make a decision.

What Drives Us As Perth Fencing Contractors

Craftsmanship

We measure twice and cut once. Every post is plumbed, every panel is level, and every footing is poured to the depth the soil demands. Our install crews take pride in straight lines and clean finishes because a fence is something you look at every single day.

Integrity

We quote what the job actually costs. If we find rock or unexpected services during the dig, we call you before adding anything to the bill. No surprises at the end of a job is not a marketing line for us. It is how we operate.

Communication

You will know your install date, your crew names, and your expected completion time before we start. During the job, your project coordinator is a phone call away. After the job, we walk the fence line with you and do not leave until you are satisfied.

Community

We are a Perth business employing Perth people. Our steel comes from Australian mills. Our aluminium is sourced from local suppliers. When Balcatta Little Athletics needed a new perimeter fence, we supplied the materials at cost because that is what local businesses do.

Why Perth Property Owners Keep Coming Back

We do not expect you to take our word for it. Here is what the numbers say.

Our Google rating sits at 5.0 stars from over 44 verified reviews. That is not because we ask everyone to leave feedback. It is because people who are genuinely happy with their fence tend to say so. More telling than the rating is the repeat customer rate. Over a third of our work comes from previous customers who come back for a second or third project, or from direct referrals to neighbours, family, and colleagues.

We have been recognised as finalists in the Australian Fencing Awards across multiple categories, including pool fencing and residential fencing. Our Mosman Park pool fence project was nominated in the Pool Fencing Category at the November 2024 awards, and our Swanbourne steel batten fence earned a nomination in July 2025. These are peer reviewed awards judged by industry professionals, not popularity contests.

Every member of our team is police checked and holds current site safety certifications. We carry full public liability and professional indemnity insurance on every project. And every fence and gate we install is backed by a written workmanship warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions – – – –

Frequently Asked Questions

We are not a franchise or a broker who subcontracts the work. Every fencing project is completed by our own employed install crews using our own equipment. That means consistent quality, direct accountability, and no middlemen between you and the people actually building your fence. We also carry stock of the most popular Colorbond colours and standard fencing materials, which means shorter lead times compared to fencing companies that order everything per job.

Yes. Every quote starts with a free measure and on site assessment. We come to your property, walk the fence line, check the soil and site conditions, and provide a fully itemised written quote within 48 hours. There is no obligation and no follow up pressure. We believe the quote should speak for itself.

We hold all required trade registrations for fencing installation in Western Australia. Our business carries full public liability insurance and professional indemnity cover. Every crew member undergoes a national police check before they are cleared to work on customer properties. We are happy to provide copies of our insurance certificates on request.

We service the entire Perth metropolitan area and surrounding regions. Our crews work across all suburbs from Two Rocks and Yanchep in the north to Mandurah and Dawesville in the south, and east through the hills suburbs to Mundaring, Kalamunda, and Roleystone.
