Key Features of the Project

This project delivered a secure, full height garrison fence and matching gate system across a sloping driveway boundary. The client needed a strong, defined perimeter that could handle the change in ground level along the laneway without compromising on security or appearance. The fence was built from triple rail tubular steel panels topped with traditional spear point pickets, finished in satin black to suit the surrounding homes. Because the ground fell away across the run, panels were stepped to follow the natural grade while keeping every rail straight and every spear tip level, giving the fence a clean, deliberate line rather than a sloping one. A wide automated sliding gate was installed to close off the driveway, paired with a separate pedestrian gate for everyday foot access. Challenges included setting posts to the correct depth on uneven, partly compacted ground and getting the slide gate track aligned so the gate runs true across its full travel.

Products Used in the Project

The fencing system used tubular steel garrison panels with a triple horizontal rail and welded spear top pickets, all hot dip galvanised and powder coated in satin black for long term protection against rust and Perth’s harsh UV. Posts were galvanised steel set in concrete footings, finished with matching caps. The sliding gate was built on the same garrison profile and fitted with a quality gate motor, track, and safety hardware for smooth automated operation. The pedestrian gate was hung on heavy duty hinges with a keyed lock for secure side access. Garrison steel fencing offers a high level of security and durability, will not warp or sag, and needs very little upkeep beyond an occasional clean. All materials were supplied and installed by FencrGatr’s team to manufacturer specifications.

Client Expectations and Feedback

The client wanted a fence that looked sharp but, above all, kept the property secure and clearly defined along a boundary that backed onto a shared laneway. The previous setup left the driveway open and offered no real barrier to people or vehicles. They were after the classic garrison look, black spear top pickets, with the convenience of an automated gate so they would not have to get out of the car to open and close it. The sloping ground was a concern, as they did not want a fence that looked like it sagged downhill. FencrGatr stepped the panels neatly to follow the fall of the land while keeping the top line crisp and even, which made the whole run look intentional and well built. The satin black finish was chosen to tie in with the surrounding houses and provide lasting protection in the local climate. The automated sliding gate gave the client the day to day convenience they were after, with the pedestrian gate handling simple foot traffic. The client was very happy with the result, noting that the property finally felt properly enclosed and secure, and that the gate made coming and going far easier than before.
